Chicken roll easy, delicious and flavorful snack

 Introduction:

Talking about street food without mentioning chicken rolls would be incomplete. Chicken rolls are a popular snack enjoyed across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Middle East. This snack is essentially a wrap consisting of a spicy chicken filling, a little crunchy salad, and a tasty sauce, all wrapped inside a soft and crispy paratha or roti.

The special thing about chicken rolls is that they are incredibly easy to eat you don’t even need a spoon or fork; just pick up the roll and enjoy. The popularity of chicken rolls comes from their versatility. You can customize the filling to suit your taste some people like it spicy, while others prefer it mild. This is why chicken rolls are found everywhere, each with its own unique flavor.

When you make them at home, the taste becomes even more special. Homemade chicken rolls are hygienic, freshly prepared, and give you the freedom to adjust the flavors as per your liking. Whether it’s children or adults, everyone loves chicken rolls.

In this recipe, we will see step-by-step how to prepare soft parathas, make the chicken filling, and then assemble the rolls. Along with that, we will also share some tips to make your chicken rolls even tastier than the ones available in the market.

Ingredients:

For paratha

Maida (all purpose flour) 2 cups

Salt 1/2 teaspoon

Oil or ghee 2 tablespoons

Water as needed (consistency)

For chicken filling

Boneless chicken 250 grams (cut into small cubes or shredded)

Onion 1 medium finely chopped

Tomato 1 medium chopped

Green chilies 2 finely chopped

Ginger garlic paste 1 tablespoon

Salt 1 teaspoon or as per taste

Red chili powder 1 teaspoon

Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

Garam masala 1/2 teaspoon

Zeera 1/2 teaspoon

Oil 3 tablespoons

For salad and assembly

Onion medium (thinly sliced, soaked in vinegar)

Cucumber 1/2 (thin slices)

Cabbage or lettuce a little (thinly shredded)

Tomato ketchup 3 tablespoons

Mayonnaise 3 tablespoons

Green chutney 2 tablespoons optional

Method

1. Preparing the dough for paratha :

Put flour in a bowl, add salt and oil.

Slowly add water and knead into a soft dough. Do not make the dough too tight or loose.

Once the dough is ready, cover it and let it rest for 20 to 25 minutes.

Then divide it into small balls.

2. Making the chicken filling:

Heat oil in a pan.

Add cumin seeds and chopped onions and fry until golden brown.

Now add ginger garlic paste and fry a little.
Then add tomatoes and green chilies and cook until well mashed.

Now add salt, red chili, turmeric and coriander powder and roast the spices.

Add chicken cubes and cook on medium flame for 10 to 12 minutes.

When the chicken becomes soft, sprinkle garam masala and mix.

The filling is ready. If desired, you can also use shredded chicken.

3. Making paratha:

Take a ball of rested dough and roll it into a paratha sized round shape with a rolling pin.

Heat a pan or tawa and a little oil or ghee and fry until golden brown on both sides.

Repeat these steps for all the balls.

4. Assembling the chicken roll:

Take a paratha and spread a little ketchup on it.

Place the chicken fillings in the center

Add sliced onion, cucumber and cabbage/lettuce on top.

Drizzle mayonnaise and chutney.

Now roll the paratha tightly and wrap it in aluminum foil so it is easy to eat.

Tips:

Knead the flour until it's soft and fluffy, making the parathas fluffy and tasty.

For a market style roll taste, use a little extra oil when baking the parathas.

Always keep the salad fresh, a soggy salad ruins the taste of the rolls.

If you like cheese, sprinkle grated cheese over the filling and roll it up for a creamy taste.
